Community outreach
SYEP carried out a research project in Sprowston and Old Catton and identified the need for Community outreach to help to reduce anti-social behaviour and help young people to have access to positive activity and support.
The project has gone from strength to strength and is now funded yearly by Sprowston town council and continues to develop positive youth engagement throughout the town and the wider community.
We have created an outreach presence in ASB hotspots by delivering weekly outreach drop-ins in heart of Sprowston. When the kids are out so are we.
Our links with Sprowston Community academy in terms of our one to one offer and personal development education, have allowed issues to be raised and a solutions to be found
The Safer neighbourhood priorities are being addressed and the local beat officers have a regular presence at our venues
Our individually designed youth & community social capital outcome measurement tool and co-designed events for the wider community e.g. family fun day, summer fete etc, has allowed us to secure additional funding to develop activity pathways beyond the outreach programme (e.g. Call 2 Adventure, holiday activity programmes, Youth Venue).
