ASDAN Accredited Courses

ASDAN Accredited Courses

SYEP now are an accredited ASDAN provider which we have attached to several projects we deliver. We deliver sports / fitness short ASDAN accredited courses across 2.5 hour sessions. This includes:

1 – 1.5 hours of ASDAN delivery / theory-based work and 1 – 1.5 hours of sports delivery / physical activity for the participants to learn the physical elements of the course. 30 minutes each week will be allocated to whether the ASDAN delivery or practical session depending on the progress of the participants. Sessions will always be 2.5 hours long. (Participants can complete a minimum of 10 hours delivery and a maximum of 60 hours delivery depending on the number of credits they would like to gain from the course.)

We can deliver either multiple 2.5 sessions across the week and times are flexible meaning sessions can be delivered to home educated participants and participants that do not attend school. We can also deliver these sessions outside of school hours (evenings and Saturday mornings if it appeals to a specific audience to attend the courses out of school hours.).

The attendance of these courses would benefit those living in poverty, without support for their emotional and social needs, those with a special educational need or disability, those not engaged or succeeding in their education, who miss an English and/or Maths pass at 16. The benefits of these courses will allow participants to engage with one another socially through communication and working together as well as build confidence when working independently.

The development of personal, social, and work-related abilities is vital for learners of all abilities because:

  • strengthening these abilities supports academic and vocational learning
  • they are particularly effective in re-engaging young people in greatest need
  • they are important for accessing knowledge and skills at work
  • they are especially important for entry level work
  • they equip learners to live well and make full use of their abilities

Sport and fitness course content:

  • Sports participation
  • Health, fitness, and nutrition
  • Researching sport
  • Sport in the community
  • Coaching and officiating
  • The environment
  • Working in sport
